The Department of Music was established within the School of Arts and Sciences in 1920. It was transferred to the College of Arts and Sciences in 1921, then to the College of Fine Arts in 1925, before becoming part of the College of Arts and Communications in 1964. Glenn R. Williams (1931-2002) was a professor of music at Brigham Young University. Glenn R. Williams was born on August 29, 1931. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from BYU in 1953. He later received his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Rochester in 1961. He studied Bassoon and Woodwind Performance/Pedagogy and was a faculty member at Brigham Young University.
